Design Studio 2
What is Design Studio 2?
Design Studio 2 is all about how we, as students, bring inspiration, concept and ideas to life.
PROJECT ONE
Famous People, Familiar Faces
Rick Joy & The Tubac House

Project Objectives :
To investigate and to explore how spaces are created from the making of architectural elements : solid, planes, lines and frames.
Through this project, we should be able to achieve the level of understanding on the works assigned and we should be able to apply the idea and concepts of our projects later.
A video about : Rick Joy

Rick Joy's Tubac House
Manually Drafted Plans
The orthographic drawings on the left was to help us in understanding the building's important features and concepts that not only reflect the architect's style but also shows how the features of the building reflects the characteristics of the client.

Diagramatic Analysis
The aim is to investigate and formulate me and my group's findings into a set of 15 diagrams translated to a series of 15 A5 sized post-cards. With these diagrams, im able to express the analysis of the ideas intended in the project assigned in a more precise and informative way. Thus i am also required only to use not more than 3 colors and have adequete craftmanship of the postcards.
PROJECT TWO A
Site Analysis & Site Scanning

The main aim for this project was to identify and analyze the site context for the upcoming Project Two B & Project Two C's design exploration. The class was divided into groups to carry out the analysis. Datas collected was then taken back to our design studio for analysis and presentation purposes. Each student were to use the datas collected fr their own design and proposals.
PROJECT TWO B
Tea for Two
Tea for Two is a project where we were required to understand the concept of simple space planning requirement of a tea drinking pavilion. In a group of 2, we were to choose a culture for this project. From there, ideas were generated from the culture itself and also representing its own unique form.

Ideas + Concepts

Orthographic Drawing

By choosing English Tea Culture, my partner and I have used 2 simple concepts into designing this model. The concepts were : Sunlight & View.
I designed this model in such a way that the walls move in order to either create a full view of the site or to block off the uneccessary views depending on the user itself. It can also used the wall as a shade and only allow minimal light to enter from above.
Overall, this project was really "One Heck of a Ride" for me because it has certainly pushed me to the limit for designing a design like this. It made me realize how much can Simplicity do.
PROJECT TWO C
Tea House
In this project, we were required to further explore the idea of the tea pavilion intro a more complex program. We were also
required to understand the spatial requirements of the tea house and translate them onto architectural program : Public & Private space.

Based on my previous project, I decided to play with the 2 concepts used in my previous project which is Sunlight & Views. By designing the model in such a way that it moves, I created different views and spatial experiences for the user. Each cubes moves 5 meters and the height of each cube is different for viewing purposes.
In this project, we were given the limit of 150 meter sq. But instead of designing a house that is within the 150 meter sq, I decided to push myself to the limits asking myself "Why not?". Afterall, architecture is all about challenging yourself.
Therefore, designing a house that is interactive to the user and how it blends to the site. By the choice of the users, they can interact through the interior spaces whereby each cube is connected to one another OR by interacting through various exterior space where the users can experience different views.
