OBJECTIVE
Project 1 has for aim to enhance the understanding about the strength of materials from the strongest to the weakest in appearance. In order to prove that the smallest and simplest material could withstand consequent loads, the fettucine, a simple piece of baked pasta has been chosen as material for the upcoming fettucine bridge. The goal was to reach the highest loading limit with a bridge of least than 150g in weight and with a constant clearance of 500mm.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Ability to understand strength of materials

2. Ability to identify type of truss bridges

3.  Ability to design truss systems from existing truss bridges systems

4. Understanding of forces in a structure

5. Ability to recognize loading limit and failure points

6. Ability to design adequate and stable truss bridges
